Danny's swimming lessons

Danny had swimming lessons for two weeks. At first, I was wondering how much he could really learn from this...I'm skeptical. I signed him up mainly so that he would have an activity that would be something to look forward to. I just kind of assumed this would be like a little introductory class where the kids had supervised play in the water, etc. I was wrong. These were real lessons. He learned a lot and really enjoyed it!

Here, his class is playing "Ring around the Rosy" and at the end when they all fall down, the hope was that they would put their heads under the water. Some did. Danny did it a few times.

They got lots of one-on-one practice with the lifeguards. Here he is "swimming" on his belly:

Here he is swimming on his back:

Happy:

Here's a little video of him jumping off the diving board:

Most of the kids were just lowered into the water from the board, but Danny wanted to jump every time! I'm so proud of him and so glad he's not afraid of the water! The only drawback of this was the weather. It was cold a few mornings. The kids were turning purple and even the lifeguards were saying how cold the water was. Other than that, though, I am very happy with these lessons.

Yeah, it stinks about the cold water but sounds like Danny was quite a trooper. We debated over swimming lessons for Andrew this summer, too, but since he's only 2, we figured we could go ahead and do the water comfortability-thing ourselves, and did. Next summer we'll probably do the lesson thing.

I am typing on behalf of my Googlely Challenged Mother! She says, "Good Luck Jen on the upcoming arrival!!" "Wishing you all the best!!!"

That's SO awesome. Celia went through lessons last week and will barely stick her mouth in the water! Danny should teacher her some tricks.
